Q:海と風があなたにささやいた言葉は、どんな響きでしたか? What words did the sea and the wind whisper to you, and how did they resonate in your heart?
I hear “yes, today, now”. I felt a mixture of excitement, advantageousness, letting go of my ‘humanness’ in some way. A sense of ‘not yet’, but that things will happen.
The sea felt calm but alive. It spoke in slow rhythms, reminding me to breathe and let go. Its voice carried a kind of stillness that wasn’t silence, but deep listening — a rhythm older than any human word. The wind, with its quiet strength, felt like a presence that both pushed and embraced us, carrying fragments of stories from the island. The sea has always inspired both wonder and fear in me. It’s not really our environment, and maybe that’s why it always reminds me to bring respect, to listen carefully, to move gently, and to accept that we’re only visitors on its surface.

patience, learning how to learn about the sea. it’s both a deeply introspective and collective experience on board. I received care and inspiration from the sea and the wind, as much as from the food we cook together, the hands we share in pulling the ropes, the moments of quiet meditation we enjoyed with everything around us. I felt the outline of my body fading, and my mind lighter.
I received a renewed sensitivity, the feeling of being part of something larger, where every gesture, even the smallest one, affects the balance around us. There was a sense of stillness and connection on board, a brief yet profound communion where human and non-human presences shared the same fragile horizon. Surrounded by the sea, every conversation, and every silence, were meaningful.
Q:もし次の航海があるなら、あなたはどんな夢やテーマを海に託したいですか? If there were to be another voyage, what dream or theme would you entrust to the sea?
I wonder about keeping the sail and drifting temporality in the middle of the sea, and how it would feel like to momentarily ‘lose’ orientation while pushed by the current. To pause and get in the water, observing what’s around us closely. I would dream of womb and how the circulation of life happens without a purpose for us to understand.
I’d like to explore how listening can shape the way we move through the world, how it can slow us down and open us to what often goes unnoticed. Not just the sounds themselves, but the pauses between them, the subtle shifts in people’s voices, in the wind, or in the sea. Listening, to me, is a way of caring, a way of recognising the presence of others, human and non-human, and responding with sensitivity rather than control. I’d like the next voyage to continue this exploration: how to live and move in tune with what surrounds us, rather than merely passing through it.

an elegant powerful mother figure!
It’s a gentle and welcoming boat: quiet, and open. It makes you feel safe while reminding you that you’re surrounded by something vast and alive. A quiet vessel, one that invites you to drift with the sea. It feels like a small moving observatory, where the boundaries between inside and outside slowly dissolve.
